Associée, Directrice Générale Maïeutyk France
"I worked in a SME before moving to an advertising agency where I worked with some of Quebec’s largest companies."
Valérie What are your believes about your profession?
Valérie: “Finding solutions! I am both analytic and creative, intrigued by how each problem can have an infinite number of possible solutions. However, not all solutions are equal. Including a client in the process of finding the solution is critical because often, the solutions are already there! My role is to provide the client with a toolbox so they can look at their situation with another pair of eyes. This approach leads to a winning long-term solution.”
Motivation that got you into this field
“To be honest, it’s a coincidence that brought me here! I studied in East-Asian Studies and Geography… I was to pursue a career in academia but at the age of 25, I realized that I wanted a “taste of the real world” and to add-value in a concrete way. I then began my career in Sales and Marketing at the Molson Centre (now the Bell Centre). My first job was to create the promotional materials required for the Montreal Canadian’s new season! I loved it!”
“I have a Bachelor’s degree in both East-Asian Study and Geography. I also completed a Master in Geography and Transportation… focussing on the port of Shanghai in China! In marketing, I worked for 4 years in a medium size business before passing another 10 years in advertising agencies where I worked on the largest accounts in Quebec. I also completed a certificate in Direct Marketing offered by the AMR along with a course on Interactive Marketing Communications given by the HEC.”
Expertise / Specialization
“I was trained to touch upon all aspects of marketing, focusing on the direct relationship between the end-user and the client. I have worked in over fifteen different industries. I have a solid expertise in relational marketing, promotions, product development and “Direct Response” adverting (where each action is measured), packaging, developing communication and marketing plans and partner negotiations.”
Differentiator – market value add
My ability to look at things differently. There is no problem that does not have a solution; you only have to look at the problem differently to move forward. That is why I always go to the true reason for the problem… I know that there is a solution and I want to find the right one!
